I came into work today to find a message from one of the Deputy Assistant Administrators for our Africa Bureau informing me that the Assistant Administrator approved a $1,500 cash award for me! Yippee!! It really came from my boss, and I suppose that it was meant as compensation for the three weeks I was alone out here. It is very nice to feel appreciated.

As soon as I get it we'll send all of it to Cameroon to pay down the remaining balance on the property we bought there.
