Today is one of the best days I've had at work since coming here. Basically, I have not had one crisis to manage, puzzle to solve, or hoop to jump through. I've indulged in looking for on-line courses to take and putting some notes together to document what I've been working on the last 2 months so that when it comes time to write my next performance self-appraisal I will actually have some material to work with.

Tonight is parent-teacher night at Chimene's school. I am not looking forward to it only because I expect that it will be a logistical nightmare. Last year we showed up, met a teacher, and then waited around in long lines to get some face time with the others. We spent at least 3 hours, which really pissed me off. Guy leaves for Poland tomorrow night so I told him I'm not interestd in wasting my entire evening at the school this year. If we see one teacher I'll be happy. It's not as though we have performance issues to discuss with them. I met with the school director last week to talk to her about PSAT and SAT and other stuff, so my informational needs are satisfied.
